Tees Barrage Project Launch Success Story

Evopod was selected by NaREC to showcased their new Tees Barrage tidal test facility at its public opening on 8th June 2007. All of us at OFE were pleased to be a part of the Tees Barrage Project launch in partnership with NaREC as it was a very successful day for Evopod.

OFE involvement in the event took the form of Graeme Mackie’s talk about Evopod in the morning and our 1/10th scale prototype was lowered into the lock just before lunch. The real time logging of flow velocity, turbine speed and generator power was displayed on large screens at the lock-side and received a lot of interest from the 50 plus attendees to the launch.

The event was on BBC 1 regional evening news and also covered on the front page of the Newcastle Journal on Saturday. Overall we drew great pride from the event and look forward to the further trails to be carried out on the 1/10th scale prototype.
